A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy was killed while his mother was hurt after they were hit by a six-wheeler cargo truck while crossing a street in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was killed on the spot after he was run over by a truck driven by Conrado Iglesia, 40.
The boy's mother Jennifer was badly injured.
The truck, owned by Simon Enterprises Inc., was running at high speed when it hit the pedestrians, said PO2 Richard Sucayno, traffic investigator of the Mandaue City Police Office.
The driver surrendered to the police after the incident.
The victims, who live in in the barangay, were rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital.
The driver was first brought to the Subangdaku police station then transferred to the Canduman police station to protect him from angry neighbors of the victims.
