Carmen shooters’ sketch done – police

First Posted 08:08:00 11/11/2009

POLICE yesterday continued with their manhunt operations against the four motorcycle-riding gunmen, who shot dead a retired policeman in Carmen town, northern Cebu on Monday.

Police, however, had an inkling of how two of the shooters look like after artist?s sketches of two perpetrators were completed yesterday.

One of the shooters was allegedly seen in a store adjacent to the security office where the former policeman, Nonito Kiamco Taoy, worked as the supervisor of the M1 Security agency, which is owned by Carmen town Mayor Sonia Pua.

Taoy was shot dead outside the security agency's office in barangay Cogon West, Carmen town northern Cebu on Monday.

Cebu Provincial Police Chief Jesus Gaquing said they were looking into different angles in the killing including the possibility that the gunmen were hired killers.

Police said that Taoy was a former member of the Special Reaction Unit (SRU) before he retired and worked in Pua's security agency.

Pua said that she was also conducting her own investigation since Taoy worked for her security agency.

?He has been a very close family friend for about 30 to 35 years? said Pua.

The mayor visited the Taoy family yesterday.

Pua, however, would not comment on the possibility that Taoy's death could have been because of his ties with the Pua family and of politics.

She said the Carmen police was still investigating the incident and she could comment on the matter.
