First Posted 07:55:00 11/06/2009

ANAHEIM ? Outfielder Bobby Abreu agreed to a two-year, 19 million-dollar deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, foregoing the free-agent market.

Abreu joined the Angels shortly before spring training and enjoyed a stellar year, batting .293 with 15 home runs, 103 RBIs and 30 stolen bases.

The two-time All-Star has driven in at least 100 runs in seven straight seasons, tied for the majors' longest active streak.

The Angels had given him a one-year contract that guaranteed $5 million, and he earned another $1 million dollars based on plate appearances.

His new deal stipulates $9 million dollars in salary in each of the next two seasons.

It includes a 2012 option for $9 million dollars with a $1 million buyout.
