A tricycle driver who was about to visit his departed parents in a Catholic cemetery on All Souls’ Day, was killed by two brothers in barangay Binabag, Bogo City, northern Cebu.
Joriben Lobitana, 27, died of multiple stab wounds.
Police identified the assailants as brothers Bobby and Bienvenido Niones, who live in the same barangay..
Bobby was arrested by police while his brother remains at large.
Police said revenge could be the motive of the killing because of reports that Bienvenido was mauled by the victim in the past.
The victim was on board a tricycle heading to a cemetery when it was flagged down by the two brothers in sitio Hacienda Belomina.
PO3 Allan Dosdos of the Bogo City police precinct said Lobitana was told by the two men to disembark.
Then he was mauled and stabbed to death.
Lobitana sustained stab wounds in the stomach, chest, back, arms and legs.
Police said Bienvenido was previously accused of murder but the case was settled by the parties.
