A FISHERMAN was arrested after he stabbed his wife and daughter at home in barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.
Police said Vicente Bingal, 68, was drunk when he stabbed his wife, Cristina, 68, and daughter Maridel Gonzales, 44.
According to the investigation, Vicente was drunk when he arrived home past 6 p.m. on Friday.
Vicente scolded his seven-year-old grandson, who was playing inside the house when he arrived.
Cristina asked her husband why he scolded the child. This led to a heated argument between them.
At the height of the quarrel, Vicente took a bolo and stabbed his wife in the stomach, police said.
Maridel intervened and pulled her father away from her mother but was also stabbed in the stomach.
Some relatives and neighbors of the couple checked the commotion and later arrested the fisherman, whom they turned over to the police.
The two women were rushed to a hospital.
