A TAXI driver was stabbed several times with an icepick when he resisted a robber early morning yesterday.
Apolinario Egoc, 39, driver of Ken taxi, was found unconscious by motorists in sitio Ranger, barangay Biasong, Talisay City about 7:30 a.m.
Egoc had stab wounds in the neck, face, right arm, and abdomen, said PO3 Mike Espina of the Talisay police.
Egoc was rushed on board a separate taxi to the Talisay District Hospital then transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
At the hospital, the victim told police that about 7 a.m., a man flagged him down in barangay Pooc.
When the taxi reached sitio Ranger, the passenger poked an icepick at him and declared a holdup.
The driver said he stepped on the brakes and tried to grab the icepick.
Egoc, however, was overpowered and was stabbed repeatedly.
The robber took his earnings worth P2,600 kept in the driver?s pants pocket.
Police are still investigating the case.
