SOMEONE left an unlicensed gun and two hand grenades outside two police stations in Cebu City yesterday.
This annonymous surrender of firearms was credited by Cebu City police Chief Patrocinio Comendador Jr. to the police campaign for the month-long gun amnesty program.
At least 28 assorted firearms were also surrendered to the Toledo police station, said Senior Supt. Jesus Gaquing, director of the provincial police.
A Frontier revolver and a hand grenade were left outside the Punta Princesa police station in Cebu City
Another hand grenade was found outside the Parian police station after an identified male caller, who calimed he was a former Alsa Masa anti-communist member, said he was leaving the grenade there.
Comendador said this showed the public was cooperating with the police operation against loose firearms.
He assured owners of unlicensed guns that they would not be investigated if they just surrender their illegal weapons this month.
The gun amnesty program runs from Oct. 1 until Oct. 31.
Comendador said this would be the final amnesty program for holders of unlicensed firearms.
