TWO women were arrested in Lapu-Lapu City and in Cagayan de Oro City on suspicion of engaging in human trafficking.
The arrest of Jillian Muring, 19, alias Candy in Cagayan de Oro City led to the later arrest of Dhayme Jamuad, 25, alias Nikki last Friday in a beach in Lapu-Lapu City by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas.
The police were armed with an arrest warrant issued by Regional Court Judge Ester Veloso of Branch 6. It was issued based on charges of violation of RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2003, which was filed against the two women last year.
They were pointed to as the recruiters of a group of minors to work in different bars in Cebu City
The youths were intercepted by Maritime police last November 2008.
The arrest was made after members of the International Justice Mission (IJM) sought the CIDG's help.
The IJM is a non-government organization which secures justice foe victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.
