POLICE in Cebu City and in other parts of the country are securing hotels following the hotel bombings in Indonesia on Friday.
Cebu City Police Chief Patrocinio Comendador Jr. said yesterday that they were adopting countermeasures to ensure that what happened in Indonesia would not happen here.
?We are on heightened alert status,? said Senior Supt. Comendador in a text message.
He said policemen were already securing hotels.
?We've already coordinated with all hotels especially those run by US nationals to implement strict security measures,? Comendador said.
Police are beefing up beat patrol policemen in crowded places such as schools, churches and malls.
Patrol cars are also in close contact with the beat policemen.
Comendador said intelligence gathering were also intensified through the barangay intelligence network.
He however said that there were no reports of any terrorist threat in the city but just the same security was being tightened.
In the province, police said they were conducting daily checkpoints while authorities in coastal communities were also keeping a tight watch of possible entry of lawless elements in the province./Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
