CEBU City Councilor Augustus Pe Jr. wants an investigation on the death of his police escort whose body was fished out in the waters off Pier 8 in Mandaue City.
Pe asked the Cebu City Police Office to investigate the death of PO1 Danilo Playda because he was not convinced that the policeman killed himself due to financial problems.
He said that if Playda was having monetary problems, he would have his appendicitis operated on in a government hospital and not in a private hospital.
The fact that Playda wanted his appendicitis treated also showed the policeman still wanted to live, said Pe.
The councilor also wondered why Playda's body was found floating in a secluded area in the Mandaue wharf without a shirt and slippers on.
Pe also wondered how the responding policemen easily identified his body guard when there was no identification card found in his possession when he was recovered.
Vice Mayor Michael Rama urged Cebu City Councilor Gerardo Carillo, action officer of the Cebu City Disaster Coordinating Council, to investigate the incident since Playda?s death is also considered a disaster. /Reporter Marian Z. Codilla
