OPERATIVES of the Pardo police station are facing murder charges filed by the family of a suspected drug peddler who was killed in a police raid in his house in barangay Pardo, Cebu City.
Mylene Formentera said her husband, Judy Sabroso, was unarmed when shot and killed by the police on Sept. 20, 2008.
Her two children — aged six and seven — were included as complainants to the murder case against Chief Insp. Aureo Sanchez, Insp. Ciriaco Cortuna, SPO4 Sanrico Jolejole, SPO2 Oscar Perez and seven others at the Cebu City prosecutor's office.
Sanchez, Pardo police chief, said the raid was legitimate. They were forced to shoot the suspect after he fired at them, he added.
Formentera said her husband was sleeping in their sala when policemen barged in and opened fire.
The victim’s relatives sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas which conducted a paraffin test on Sabroso, who suffered 16 gunshot wounds. The test yielded negative result. /Correspondent Chito Aragon
