POLICEMEN in San Francisco town on Camotes Island were told to explain why there was no single policeman left in their station on Nov. 12.
Senior Supt. Carmelo Valmoria, director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), ordered Senior Insp. Ciriaco Larrobis, the town's police chief, to explain the incident.
Larrobis said he was not at the station on Nov. 12 since he went to the Palace of Justice in Cebu City to process some cases.
Larrobis said he learned that the mayor's office of San Francisco called up the station but the call was answered by a civilian.
The civilian, who is the driver of the municipal hall, said there was no policeman at the station during that time.
Larrobis said that there was no policeman left at the station because the incoming police officers arrived late and that the outgoing policemen were eager to go home.
Larrobis said there was one policeman left at the station but he also went to the town's health center for a medical check-up.
Larrobis said he was told by the incoming policemen that they arrived late because the pumpboat they were supposed to ride encountered engine trouble.
The police officers lived on nearby islands, said Larrobis.
