CEBU CITY, Philippines - A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 12 to 15 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of illegal possession of illegal drugs.
Roberto Garcia, of Pasil, Cebu City, was arrested by police on June 23, 2007 in Barangay (village) Suba, Cebu City, after he was seen carrying a plastic pack of shabu weighing .04 grams.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of P300,000.
Regional Trial Court Judge Gabriel Ingles of Branch 58 in his decision said that the police had no ill motive to incriminate Garcia.
According to the police, the accused was seen having a conversation with a woman, who was checking a plastic pack.
The police said that when they approached the accused, the woman ran.
The police said they apprehended Garcia and found out that the two plastic packs contained shabu. /Correspondent Ador Vincent S. Mayol
