CEBU Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia led the destroying of at least 74 video carrera machines yesterday at the grounds of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CCPPO) in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
The illegal gambling machines were confiscated from different municipalities and cities of Cebu from from January to September.
CPPO director Carmelo Valmoria said the haul was bigger than the 61 video carrera machines confiscated last year.
Most of the gambling machines, a total of 29, came from Talisay City.
Operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) were able to seize 19 of the machines.
Valmoria said four units have yet to be destroyed since they will be used for presentation as court evidence against the operators.
The machines were smashed with a mallet.
A roadroller also crushed the units.
Valmoria said the provincial police is also intensifying its campaign against massiao operation. /Correspondent Chito Arragon
