CEBU CITY, Philippines - A female bank teller complained to the police that she lost cash to a man who pretended to be a client.
Jennely Rivera, teller of Banco de Oro?s (BDO) Escario Branch, told the police that a man entered the bank on Tuesday morning bringing P26,000 cash in P1,000 bills.
Rivera said the man asked her to change his money into P500 bills.
Rivera said that when she gave 52 pieces of P500 bills to the man, the customer changed his mind and said that he needed P100 bills instead.
Rivera said she then counted P100 bills equivalent to P26,000 and gave it to the man.
When the man left, Rivera said she counted the P500 bills that were initially given to the man and found out that 28 P500 bills equivalent to P14,000 were lacking.
The exchange was captured in closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
The police are tracking the man down.
Henry Estoy, investigator of the theft and robbery section of the Cebu City Police Office, said the same man went to the BDO Ayala and F. Gonzales branches where he also left with P11,000 and P17,000 respectively.
Estoy, however, said that no representatives from the two branches went to the police to report the incidents.
Meanwhile, a woman complained to the police after she lost her laptop to a woman who did her laundry at home for one day.
Segundina Pacio, 65, said that on Monday afternoon, a woman went to their residence in Tres de Abril, Barangay (village) Labangon, to offer her laundry services.
Pacio said she accepted the woman's offer in exchange for P500.
The woman went back to Pacio's residence about 6 a.m. on Tuesday and ate her breakfast in the house.
Pacio said that when the woman started washing clothes, she went up to the second floor of her house to do some chores.
Pacio said she was surprised when the woman was already gone when she went down.
Pacio said she later discovered that her laptop left in the living room was missing.
Pacio said the woman introduced herself as Belen on Monday afternoon, but when she returned the next day she introduced herself as Amelita.
