LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines - An argument over meal preparation led a husband to stab dead his wife on Tuesday in Lapu-Lapu City.
Santos Cosep, 50, who is half-paralyzed, stabbed his wife Rosalina, 40, in the back for allegedly not attending to his meals inside their house in Sitio (district) Mahayahay, Barangay (village) Bangkal.
He told the police that his wife was always playing a local card game known as “tong-its” instead of feeding him.
Cosep, a former security guard, said he finally lost his patience with his wife.
The couple’s son, Roy, 21, told Humoc that about 8 a.m., his parents argued after his father complained that his mother was no longer taking care of his meals.
In the middle of the argument, Roy said his father took a stainless steel knife and stabbed his mother in the back.
Rosalina was rushed to the Mactan Doctor’s Hospital, but she did not get there alive.
Cosep surrendered to the barangay hall after the incident.
Humoc said the police were waiting for Rosalina's relatives to file a parricide case against Cosep.
