CEBU CITY, Philippines – A man was charged with parricide before the court on Monday for killing his wife whom he buried in a charcoal pit beside their house in the mountain barangay (village) of Cambinocot, Cebu City.
Raymundo “Mundo” Gemina was accused of killing his wife, Juanita, on June 24.
According to Juanita's half-brother, Chrisanto Gomez, the accused went to their parents’ house together with his three children on the last week of June.
Gemina asked his wife’s parents to watch over their children while Juanita was away looking for a job.
But on July 16, Gomez was surprised to learn that Juanita was found buried on the ground near her home.
On the night of the same day, Gemina surrendered to Police Officer 3 Fredilson Codilla.
He claimed that he had killed his wife in the act of defending himself.
Codilla turned him over to Senior Police Officer 4 Alex Dacua, Police Officer 3 Henry Orbiso and Police Officer 3 Rexy Tion of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office.
According to the policemen, Juanita had a hack wound in the left side of the face.
