CEBU CITY, Philippines - A teenaged housemaid of a police chief was found dead inside the comfort room of his quarters about 8 a.m. Tuesday.
But an investigation is being conducted to determine if there was foul play in the death of Ermiliza Aba, 19.
She was found hanging with one end of a rope tied around her neck and the other end tied from the ceiling of the comfort room of the Philippine National Police quarters occupied by Superintendent Glen Ares, chief of the Parian police station.
Aba was rushed to the hospital but did not get there alive.
Police found no suicide note.
Aba, a native of Sitio (district) Tulay in Barangay (village) Bu-ot Taup, a mountain village in Cebu City, was last seen cooking breakfast early Tuesday morning.
Ares’ room is located just across the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas along Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.
Senior Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador Jr. ordered a thorough investigation on the case.
Comendador, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director, said an autopsy result would help determine if there was foul play.
Senior Inspector Mario Monilar said the police will ask the relatives of Aba to allow them to autopsy her body.
Monilar, CCPO’s homicide section chief, said they would also look into possible reasons why Aba would commit suicide.
