CEBU CITY, Philippines - Democrito Macaldo, the former coach of the Karatedo Philippine team who remained at large, faces another four counts of rape in court.
The Cebu City Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday filed the case against the karate instructor for allegedly molesting his student in January, February, March and April 2006.
The case information said Macaldo used his influence as a coach and deceived young girls to believing that he can transmit his energy, strength and luck to them through sexual intercourse.
Lina (not her real name) with the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) originally filed nine counts of rape and anti-sexual harassment act against her former instructor on February 9.
In January 2007, three wards of Macaldo sought the help of the NBI in filing charges against the coach.
In September 2007, two counts of rape were filed against Macaldo in court.
The student said Macaldo enticed her to have sex with him so she could be assured of good luck in her chosen career, best convincing power, have smooth skin and be immediately accepted if she would apply for a job.
Lina said she gave in to Macaldo because she trusted him as a “respected trainer” and a second father.
Lina said that she stopped seeing Macaldo when she learned sometime in December 2006 that she was not the only one whom Macaldo was having sex with. Other female members of the athletic organization had a similar experience. /Reporter Nilda L. Gallo
