The municipal government of Alegria wants the town?s entire police force changed.
In a resolution passed by the municipal council and approved by Mayor Raul Quisadio, the town government expressed disappointment with the supposed inability of the police force to respond to alarms and generally poor performance in addressing the peace and order situation of the town.
The resolution requested Senior Supt. Carmelo Valmoria, director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), to relieve all members of the town?s police personnel, including its police chief, Insp. Porferio Baylosis.
Valmoria, however, said he was not in favor of replacing the entire police force of the town. The most he could do, he said, was to relieve a number of policemen whose performance were unsatisfactory.
Valmoria said he has sent Supt. Erson Digal, CPPO deputy director of operations, to talk to town officials and police regarding the complaints of local officials.
If the CPPO finds sufficient reason for a revamp, Valmoria said each policeman assigned to the town would be subjected to an evaluation to determine if he should be transferred.
The police director said replacing a policeman is not an easy process.
?So those who deserve to stay will stay. We will only replace policemen who really need to be replaced,? Valmoria said.
Valmoria, however, urged town officials to give Baylosis a chance, considering he has only been in the position for a few months.
However, the CPPO would also send Mayor Quisadio a list of five police officials who were qualified to be town police chiefs.
