CEBU CITY, Philippines - A 19-year-old youth was stabbed by his former neighbor in Barangay (village) Carreta, Cebu City on Sunday morning.
Gerardo Etong sustained a stab wound in the back and was confined at the Cebu City Medical Center.
Etong went to buy peanuts in a store where a certain Edcel, 22, who had transferred residence to Barangay Tejero, was drinking with his friends.
Edcel allegedly approached Etong and, without any provocation, attacked him before fleeing.
Police learned that Etong and the suspect had a misunderstanding on Saturday evening. At that time, the suspect hacked the fingers of Etong when he intervened in an argument between the suspect and another neighbor. /Correspondent Chris A. Ligan
