Home Builders to expand with small outlets

First Posted 08:53:00 06/15/2010

TAKING the cue from the real estate boom in Cebu, local construction supply chain Cebu Home and Builders plans to expand with smaller outtlets to reach communities in the north and south within two to three years.

Michael Co, chief executive officer, said the company has a road map for aggressive expansion in areas where there are residential and commercial developments.

He spoke after opening a new outlet in Pardo, Cebu City.

?The business process outsourcing industry, Oversees Filipino Workers and the general economy of Cebu is healthy and will also impact on a healthy real estate industry in the province, fueling growth for construction companies,? he said.

Co said his firm was not badly affected by the global economic crisis because of the resilience of the real estate industry.

?We continued to grow and we see this trend going for a long time,? he said.

He said expansion will mean opening smaller outlets to cater to local demand.

He said it's time to have a stronger presence in communities instead of expecting customers to go to their bigger depots although he is also considering opening major depots in selected areas.

The new outlet n Pardo is their third, after the ones in A.S. Fortuna Street in Banilad, Mandaue City, in Mactan.

Co said he was happy the proposal to increase the price of cement was not approved, a move which would have hurt the construction industry.

?Cement is a basic product in construction. We can't have prices too high because it will also push building cost up and will definitely have an impact on how developers build their projects,? he said.. /Reporter Aileen Garcia-Yap
