GUESTS from the Chinese Consulate Office, Korean tourists, balikbayans and businessmen are joining the three-day Suroy Suroy sa Sugbu tourism caravan to north Cebu that starts today.
Tita Zosa, officer in charge of the provincial tourism and heritage council, said that at least 160 persons are expected with at least 100 paying guests.
The rest are guests of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, members of the media and Capitol working staff.
Day one will open with a breakfast and a cultural program in front of the Compostela municipal hall.
Next stop is the Danao City fish port, the Our Lady of Manaog Shrine in Carmen, Borussia Restaurant in Sogod, and the Alegre beach resort in Borbon where lunch will be served.
Guests will then be treated to an exhibit in Tabogon town, a visit to the Daanbantayan church and municipal hall and cap the day with dinner at the Medellin Hideaway.
On Saturday, breakfast will be served at the San Remegio beach club before guests will board a seacraft to Bantayan Island.
Island visits will include stops to the Ogtong beach resort where a cultural presentation and lunch will be served to guests. Next stop is the Lambayan farm and the Kota park in Madridejos town.
Dinner will be served at the Bantayan town plaza.
Sunday will open with a visit to the Sta. Fe Catholic church for a Eucharistic celebration.
Guests will later board a seacraft that will bring them to the Hagnaya wharf in San Remegio town in mainland Cebu. Then to Bogo City plaza where exhibits, a cultural presentation and lunch await the Suroy Suroy participants.
The caravan will then visit Catmon and Liloan whre a closing program will be held.
?Hopefully, the weather will be fine. The waves were not rough then when I visited Bantayan Island two days ago,? said Zosa in Cebuano.
Zosa said that the provincial tourism office started booking Suroy Suroy reservations about two weeks ago.
As of yesterday, most of the resorts in the northern part of the province were already fully booked or almost filled up.
Standard rooms at the Kota beach in Sta. Fe town for example which cost P7,000 each were already fully booked for the Suroy Suroy according to the provincial government website.
