Another set of of outstanding entrepreneurs in Cebu will be recognized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) as it closes tonight the Cebu Business Month 2009 with the Grand Chamber Awards Night (GCA) at Onstage Ayala Center Cebu.
The award categories include Entrepreneur of the Year, Emerging Entrepreneur, Socially Responsible Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur, Countryside Entrepreneur, and Small Business Entrepreneur.
Special citations are also given to companies and organizations in specific fields of interest, the CCCI said in a statement.
Last year, lawyer Augusto Go was recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year awardee. He was recognized for turning ailing businesses into profitable ones.
His role in making the Cebu College of Commerce into the University of Cebu and for turning around Aspac Rural Bank from bankruptcy to profitability were cited.
Other awardees last year included Philip Tan of Wellmade Motors and Development Corp. (Socially Responsible Entrepreneur) and Lamac Cooperative was given a special citation for being an example of cooperativism enhancing people's lives through self-sustaining initiatives.
Businessman Michel Lhuiller won the Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2007. He was cited for his pawnshop business.
Other awardees in 2007 included Paul Delantar of Nature's Legacy and Gil Carungay of Avatar Accessories Inc.
The CCCI promises an entertaining Grand Chamber Awards Night with Cebuano performers Anna Fegi and Sakdap providing the musical interludes.
Alice Woolbright heads the committee for the awards night together with Milagros Espina and technical director Gloria Villarojo.
The awards committee includes vice president for membership Ed Limtingco and past presidents Francis Monera, Robert Go and Carlos Go. /With Dennis Singson
