THE National Power Corp. (Napocor) will soon own a portion of the South Road Properties (SRP).

This developed after the City Council authorized on Wednesday Mayor Tomas Osmena to sign the deed of absolute sale of a 3,005 square meter lot in the SRP to Napocor.

The government-owned power company is the fourth entity to get a parcel of land in the SRP next to Filinvest Land Inc., the Department of Public Works and Highways and the University of the Philippines.

The Cebu City government sold the 3,005 sq. m. lot for P8,000 per square meter. The purchase did not undergo a public bidding because Napocor is a government owned company.

The Napocor will use the property as a location for their Cebu office. Napocor also will will bear the expenses for the execution and registration of the deed of sale as well as the taxes and expenses of the name transfer of the property.

If the sale pushes through the transaction is the city government's second sale of the SRP lots.

The city donated lots for the DPWH and the University of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the City Council also authorized the mayor to enter into a contract with San Narciso Builders for the construction of the movable wall for the Senior Citizens Center at the SRP amounting to P1.7 million.

The Bids and Awards Committee said that the contractor is the lowest bidder for the project and recommended the contract to them.

The construction of a senior citizens center in the SRP has been the promise of the mayor to the senior citizens because they don't have an office were they could gather.

The BAC has issued a notice of award to San Narciso Builders last May 20.

However, the contract will be signed only upon the return of Osmeña from his medical check-up in the States which will be in the middle of July. /Reporter Marian Z. Codilla
