e-Bloc to address BPO firms’ space problem

Cebu Daily News
First Posted 09:44:00 06/07/2008

A 12-story mid-rise office building is nearing completion and is expected to address the need for more office space for business process outsourcing (BPO) companies and retail store in Cebu..

The e-bloc Tower, a project by Asian I-Office Properties Inc. (AIO), is scheduled to open on the third quarter of this year inside the Asiatown IT Park in Lahug, Cebu City.

It will have a total of 21, 000 square meters of leasable space for information technology (IT) and IT-enabled firms and another 1, 7000 square meters for retail stores.

AIO is a special purpose vehicle created with the efforts and resources of Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp. and Ayala Land Inc. corporate business group.

CPVDC president Francis Monera said the tower will be finished on time despite escalating prices of construction materials and surging cost of fuel.

Monera said the building will translate to more jobs as Cebu universities report an increase in the number of IT enrollees and a decrease in the number of students taking up nursing.

These universities are University of San Carlos, University of San Jose Recoletos, Southwestern University, University of Cebu and University of Southern Philippines.

“The e-bloc is projected to give Cebu's competitive talents the reasons to stop looking for rewarding careers outside the country,” he told reporters.

The building's amenities and facilities include dual piping system, centralized airconditioning system, telecommunications facilities and 411 parking slots. With Reporter Cris Evert B. Lato
