FOUR teachers were awarded top honors and recognition in the recently concluded 5th Innovative Teachers Leadership Awards (ITLA) held at the SM Cebu Trade Hall.

Vilma Ambat of Baguio City National High School, Adonairam Basingan of Baguio City National High School-Sto. Tomas annex, Ma. Celine Calado of Muntinlupa Science High School and Ma. Theresa Pelones of General Santos City National High School were awarded Best Innovative Teachers during the awarding ceremonies held on Feb. 21 at the SM Cebu Trade Hall.

The awardees bested 22 other teachers all over the country.

They were judged on the basis of how their classroom projects have exhibited the educator and the learner as change agents and the innovative and relevant use of ICT tools and effective implementation of instructional strategies.

The four teachers will represent the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific Regional Innovative Teachers Awards in Singapore from March 9 to 11.

One of them will be selected to represent the Asia-Pacific Region in the World Educators Forum in South Africa in November 2010.

ITLA is a yearly search for the top public school elementary and secondary teachers who have successfully integrated Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning and effectively impact developing knowledge workers and life-long learners.

It is sponsored and initiated by Microsoft Inc., in collaboration with the Coalition for Better Education and the Department of Education.
