Around 400 pupils of Don Calixto Yongco, Sr. Tawason Elementary School in barangay Tawason, Mandaue City will now be using new books in their research in the library.
The Social Projects committee and the Book Club, which is composed of AboitizLand Inc. employees, donated a library kit ? two shelves of 291 hard and soft covers and e-books ? to replace the outdated books in the Tawason school library last Feb. 6.
The Book Club also mounted a short-story reading session and a mini-puppet show to the delight of the pupils.
The club also treated the children with snacks and ice cream while the show was ongoing.
Jeanne Ouano, AboitizLand Corporate Planning assistant vice president, emphasized during the turnover ceremonies that ?Education is the only treasure that could never be stolen.?
She added the donation was part of AboitizLand?s commitment to support the Adopt-A-School program of the Department of Education.
Being an adopted school, the Book Club has organized a speech training program for the school?s teachers on the second quarter of this year.
The training will be conducted by the Front Gate Publishing, Inc.
