AS part of its community outreach program, the University of Cebu College of Law will conduct free legal consultation and voters' education forum on March 6 at its Banilad campus.

The free legal aid will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteer lawyers from the UC Law faculty, UC Law alumni, University of the Philippines Law Alumni Cebu Foundation Inc. and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu Province and Cebu City chapters will provide legal advice to individuals who cannot afford to pay for legal service.

The voters education forum will be held in two sessions: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The forum will teach voters about their rights to vote and how to be familiar with the new rules on automated elections.

The morning session will be facilitated by the Local Government and Election Laws class under lawyer Gloria Estenzo Ramos, along with Cebu-Citizens Involvement and Maturation for People's Empowerment and Liberation (C-Cimpel), Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas and Tugkaran Hinlo-an 2010 campaign against illegal election materials, which was jointly organized by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Philippine National Police, Integrted Bar of the Philippines-Cebu City chapter, the Global Legal Action on Climate Change and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas.

The afternoon session will be presided by the Commission on Elections.

For lawyers who have not completed yet the third Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) compliance requirement, the deadline is April 16.

The UC College of Law is offering a completed four-day MCLE program on March 9, 10, 24 and 25.
