ELEVEN policemen and 13 barangay tanods in Cebu City were awarded by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) for their accomplishments in eradicating marijuana farms.

Chief Inspector Enrique Samosa, group director of Cebu City Mobile Group, led the list of awardees. Samosa and his men, together with barangay tanods raided at least two marijuana farms in the moutain barangay of Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City.

They were also responsible for the arrest of Gerard Sequera, a suspected marijuana cultivator, in sitio Tuburan, barangay Pung-ol Sibugay last August 18.

Samosa's team raided 357 fully grown marijuana plants in sitio Kalugtogan of the same barangay on June 20, 2007.

Rodrigo Survilla and Paulino Ardiente, suspected cultivators, were arrested in that raid.

PDEA-7 Regional Director Randy Pedroso yesterday lauded the awardees for their efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs and substances including marijuana plants.

Lawyer Paul Clarence Oaminal, the new DDB chairman, replacing former senator Vicente ?Tito? Sotto, spoke during the awarding ceremony yesterday at the office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).

He said the awardees set a good example as law enforcers in the campaign against illegal drugs. correspondent chito o. aragon
