Screening of film about climate change set

First Posted 09:14:00 11/20/2009

THE gala screening of the "Age of Stupid" (www.ageofstupid.net) will be held on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Ayala Center Cebu Cinema 3.

The ?Age of Stupid? is a film by Franny Armstrong, director of ?McLibel,? and John Battsek, producer of ?One Day in September.?

It is a drama-documentary-animation hybrid, starring Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching archive footage from 2008 and asking: Why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?

This screening is an opportunity and a challenge for everybody to take stock of the impacts of climate change to the people. It will also help contextualize the recent Ondoy tragedy.

More importantly, the movie is a challenge for us to ensure that there is a global commitment to mitigate and adapt to the adverse impacts of runaway climate change, such as extreme weather events.

Tickets are sold at P75 each to cover logistical costs of the film. For ticket reservations, contact Amalie Obusan at (0917) 5849663 or through her email amalie.obusan@greenpeace.org, Francis dela Cruz at (0917) 8542103 or fdlcruz@greenpeace.org and Gelena Asis at (0906) 5519757.
