First Posted 09:59:00 11/17/2009

A professor of Cebu Doctors University (CDU) has been elected president for 2010 of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cebu-Mactan Channel.

JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel members gave Marlon Ariel L. Polinar, who is also pharmacist of CDU Hospital, the go-signal to lead the chapter succeeding 2009 president Emi Rose R. Parcon.

Polinar joined JCI in 2006 and served as individual development commissioner on that year.

He became secretary-general in 2007. Later on, he was appointed vice president for development in 2008 and VP for administration in 2009.

He has been leading and orchestrating major projects over the years, helping the chapter earn major awards in area conferences and national conventions, according to 2008 president Jolex Yu Lim.

"Marlon is well prepared for his term as president," said founding 2006 charter president Cerwin T. Eviota. "We are confident he will surpass the records of his predecessors."

The awards Polinar raked in speak well of his achievements, according to 2007 President Angelo Daniel R. Parcon. These awards were harvested by Polinar from 2006, the year he joined the chapter, to 2009. These include: One of the 10 Outstanding Members (Presidential Award) in 2006, Most Outstanding Project Chairman in the Visayas and Most Outstanding Member (Presidential Award) in 2007, Most Outstanding Officer (Presidential Award) and Outstanding Officer of the Month (October) in 2008, and Outstanding Officer of the Month (January) in 2009.

Born on March 24, 1979 in Surigao City, Polinar has been a hospital and clinical pharmacist of CDU over the past seven years.

He encourages young professionals aged 25 to 33 to join JCI, and to browse http://www.jcicebumactanchannel.com/ for more information.
