THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) will hand out cash assistance of P9.9 million to the municipality of Bindoy in Negros Oriental under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) today, Nov 17 at the Land Bank of the Philippines branch in Bais City.

The 4Ps cash assistance will be distributed to the beneficiaries, composed of 3,397 poor families, from Bindoy to help them defray the cost of health, nutrition and education.

During the activity, DSWD-7 Director Evelyn Macapobre with the assistance of Land Bank officials and Bindoy OIC-Mayor Valiente Mayor will demonstrate how to withdraw the cash grant from LandBank automated teller machine (ATM) using a LandBank ATM card.

Aileen Lariba, 4Ps information officer, said the program provides each family beneficiary a cash grant of P500 per month or P6,000 a year for health and nutrition expenses and P300 per month per child or P3,000 for one school year or 10 months for educational expenses for a maximum of three children per household for five years as long as they comply with certain conditions such as attendance in responsible parenthood sessions, pre- and post-natal care, preventive health checkups and vaccinations.

Children aged 5 years old must also attend day care or pre-school classes, while those aged 6 to 14 years old must enroll in elementary or high school and attend at least 85 percent of the time.
