DOST scholar tops ECE board exams

First Posted 07:17:00 11/09/2009

A SCHOLAR of the Department of Science and Technology topped the Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) licensure examination held last Oct. 26 and 27.

Rizaldo Blanco Fuentes, an ECE graduate of Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), ranked first after garnering 91.10 percent rating.

Among the 4,322 hopefuls who took the exams only 1,131 succeeded.

Fuentes said he did not expect to top the board, although he was confident in passing the exam.

Fuentes started his review in June and according to him the only way that pushed him into the top was his positive attitude – not to put to waste what was being taught.

“If you study hard, God will pay you back with a reward,” he said.

Engineer Rene Burt Llanto, regional director of the DOST in Central Visayas, cited Fuentes’ success as a great example to be emulated by DOST scholars and students.

Other successful examinees who garnered highest places are: Danny Raquel Supnet, University of the East in Caloocan (90.50); Jared Go Noynay, University of Cebu (90.40); Teosseth Gallo Altar, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (89.80); Leo Angelo Arejola Rull-Ateneo de Naga University, (88.30); Mark Sible Cayubit, Rizal Technological University, (88.10); Charlie Niño Fandalian Pasahol, De La Salle University-Lipa, (88.10); Ian Claudio Reyes Santayano, Rizal Technological University, (87.80); Jan Carlo Miranda Javier, University of Santo Tomas, (87.70); Julius Vibo Olandria Jr.-Mindanao State University, (87.20); and Joebert Baccay Basco-Polytechnic University of the Philippines, (87.10).

The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees will be conducted on Dec. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Mariner’s Court, Cebu City.
