EIGHT junior and senior Mass Communication students of Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental participated in the Regional Youth Media Summit-Visayas Leg from Oct. 26 to 28 in Cebu City.
The youth summit, dubbed “CRC 20 Na! Ano Na?,” was implemented by the Probe Media Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (Unicef) to help young media practitioners broaden their understanding of children’s rights issues, and enhance their journalism skills.
The participants and the respective areas they represented were: Eliora Eunice Bernedo and Ebony-Arianne Lautner (photojournalism), Mary Grace Nidoy and Emarrah Contessa Sarreal (print/newsletter production), April Joyce Aquino and Alton Jave Tenorio (radio production) and Kathyrine Mercado and Hannah Leah Pa-a (video production).
The participants underwent a three-day training workshop on children’s rights and journalism techniques. They were expected to exhibit, publish or air their workshop outputs in their respective organizations and communities.
