The Cebu State College of Science and Technology (CSCST) won the 2009 National Best PESO (Public Employment Service Office) Award in the state universities and colleges and non-government organization category.
The award was given during the 9th National PESO Congress of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last Oct. 7 at Oxford Hotel in Angeles City, Pampanga with the theme “Bridging the Employment Initiatives of Stakeholders for Community Development.”
The CSCST-PESO got the national award as one of four top regional performers accredited by DOLE.
The other top regional performers and nominees for the award were University of Southern Mindanao in Kidapawan, North Cotabato, University of Mindanao in Davao City and Southern Luzon Technological College in Legazpi City.
Dr. Bonifacio Villanueva, CSCST president, said he was planning to add a manpower complement to the employment office to make it more responsive to the employment need of fresh graduates and other job seekers in Cebu.
Nona Fe Estolas, CSCST-PESO manager, said her office had been consistently attending to its clientele since it was accredited by DOLE over a year ago. Since then, two job fairs were held at CSCST Main Campus with a strong support from campus director Dr. Ponciano Bontia.
