Two days after the distribution of patrol cars to the 11 police stations, the Cebu City government delivered 11 six-wheeler Isuzu cargo trucks to the mountain barangays in the south district last Wednesday.
Among the barangays that received a cargo truck were Toong, Buot-Taup, Sudlon 1, Sudlon 2, Tabunan, Babag, Bonbon, Pamutan and Tagbao.
The barangay captains of these villages welcomed the vehicle during Wednesday’s turnover ceremony, saying the trucks would help address the need for transportation in the mountain barangays.
Sinsin barangay captain Ramon Ylaya Jr. said that aside from transporting agricultural products, the cargo truck could also be used to bring barangay constituents who will attend weeding, burial or baptism rites in Pardo church.
The chapel of barangay Sinsin is under the jurisdiction of Pardo Parish church.
The cargo trucks worth P950,000 each were purchased from Pasajero Motors.
The city government will also give gasoline allocation to the recipient barangays.
With several vehicles given by the city government to the barangays, Vice Mayor Michael Rama said the city government would establish a motorpool where barangay officials can seek repair of their damaged government-issued vehicles.
