PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to visit Cebu to serve as the guest of honor at the national conference of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) to be held in Cebu City from Dec. 3 to 5.
Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna, who presided a meeting of the VMLP-Cebu last week, said Arroyo will deliver a message during the conference, which will be participated in by all the vice mayors, city councilors, municipal councilors and council secretaries in the province of Cebu.
Topics focus on strengthening local government legislation, disaster risk reduction, solution on environmental problem, solid waste management, affordable health services and the automated election.
The league will invite experts from non-government organizations and other government agencies as the resource persons.
During the VMLP national conference, vice mayors who are on their third or last term will be acknowledged, including Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama, who is the national president of MVLP.
