THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) recently released more than P1 million cash assistance for needy families in Negros Oriental.
A total of P900,000 representing emergency shelter assistance went to 150 families in the towns of Valencia, Sibulan, San Jose, Amlan and Bindoy as well as the cities of Tanjay and Bais for the repair of their houses.
Another P385,000 was released to the towns of Siaton and Sibulan for the 100 beneficiaries of DSWD?s Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program.
First district Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong also released P100,000 to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office as aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation.
Early this year, Rep. George Arnaiz of the second district also extended P480,000 for the same purpose.
DSWD-7 Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said the department?s assistance was only an augmentation to the other assistance provided by the government officials and other non-government organizations.
Macapobre has been regularly meeting with the legislators in Central Visayas to expedite the delivery of the different social services as well as converge available resources to help the constituents of the said lawmakers.
