UNDERPRIVILEGED high school graduates from Leyte availed the scholarship program of PASAR Foundation Inc. (PFI), a corporate foundation of the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation in Isabel, Leyte.
PFI has forged ties with the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE) in Cebu City to sponsor seven students this school year who take up three-year industrial technician program.
The scholarship covers tuition and other fees, meal and transportation allowance.
The scholars were formally presented on June 11 during the signing of memorandum agreement between CITE Development Office director Peter Millan and PFI president Ricardo Santiago and PASAR SVP Manuel del Rosario.
The scholars are going to take up three semesters of in-school training and three semesters of in-plant training.
They will be aided with tutorials, advisory, e-learning and some formative activities.
PASAR will also provide personnel that will monitor the academic performance of the students. PASAR has already sponsored 27 scholars from Leyte since the first tie-up in 2006. The scholars may be hired by PASAR after graduation.
