THE Philippine government will observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, together with all the United Nations (UN) member countries.
The celebration will be spearheaded by the Dangerous Drugs Board.
DDB Secretary Vicente ?Tito? Sotto III is asking all their partners, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, to join in the celebration.
Sotto also requested DSWD Secretary Esperanza Cabral to undertake various activities like information campaign to increase public awareness on the effects of drug abuse.
Last year?s theme ?Drug Control? is again adopted this year to support the national anti-drug campaign with the goal of attaining a drug-free Philippines.
The theme will carry the slogan: ?Do drugs control your life? Your Life, Your Community, No Place for Drugs.?
Sotto said drugs may control the body and the minds of individual consumers; the drug crops and drug cartels control the farmers; illicit trafficking and crime may control the communities.
The slogan crafted by DDB encourages everyone to think about the role drugs play in their own lives and the community.
