The eighth annual fluvial procession in honor of the Virgin of the Rule, patron saint of Lapu-Lapu City, will be on November 12, the first day of the nine-day novena for the city fiesta.
The fluvial activity will begin at 8 a.m. from the Pacific Cebu Resort wharf in Barangay (village) Suba-basbas and end at 10 a.m. at the Muelle Osmeña.
Like in the previous years, the fluvial procession initiated by the city's Tourism Commission will once again gain support from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force (PAF), Catholic religious groups, the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and Mactan Ferry.
City Councilor Damian Gomez Jr. will lead the fluvial committee with Rudy Villanobos as overall coordinator.
A send-off Mass will be at 6 a.m. at the Marigondon Parish church.
After the Mass, the city's patron saint, Birhen Sa Regla, will be brought to Muelle Osmeña on board a yacht offered by Jay Gonzales.
A chopper from PAF will drop the first shower of petals courtesy of Norma Lim Liu.
Two other drops will follow at the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and at the Muelle Osmeña.
The best decorated and most symbolic pump boat will receive prizes.
This year's board of judges includes Raymond Bragg, Harald Feurstein, Mildred Amon, Antonio Aboitiz and Bernil Gastardo.
