The Cebu City Council is encouraging the Cebuanos and the tourists alike to participate in the Night of Heritage tonight.
Also known as “Gabii sa Kabilin,” the Night of Heritage will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Cebu.
Participants will be brought by a tartanilla (horse-drawn carriage) to the different participating museums like the Casa Gorordo Museum, Sto. Niño Museum, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Museum, Fort San Pedro and the National Museum of the Philippines.
The tartanilla will be used as a medium of transportation for the participants to emphasize the rich Cebuano culture.
This is the second Gabii sa Kabilin to be initiated by the Cultural Heritage Program of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.
Gabii sa Kabilin is patterned after the cultural event in Berlin, Germany called Lange Nacht der Museum or long night in the museums where museums and cultural institutions remain open at night.
Community-based heritage tourism core teams from barangays Pari-an, Sto. Niño and Ermita will also take part in the event that aims to promote the museums in Cebu as a dynamic place of learning history and culture. /Correspondent Marian Z. Codilla
