Friendship, camaraderie and sportsmanship were the main thrust of the 2nd annual sportsfest of the Philippine National Red Cross Youth, Cebu Chapter that was held at the Cebu State College of Science and Technology System (CSCST) in M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City on February 24 and March 2.
Students from the University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu Institute of Technology, University of San Carlos, St. Theresa's College, CSCST and the University of the Visayas participated in games such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, scrabble, sack race and patintero.
Landolf Villanueva, Red Cross Youth (RCY) Cebu Chapter president, said the sportsfest was aimed to create camaraderie among the youths from the different RCY councils.
Villanueva said the RCY Cebu will be holding a summer institute for the youths during the month of May from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The summer institute will cover leadership training, first aid, disaster management, trainings on basic health care and life support, HIV/AIDS and drug abuse prevention education. /STC Masscom student Ghea N. Sinajon
