The Gender and Development and the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Technical Working Group in Central Visayas have lined up series of activities in celebration of the Women's Month.
The month-long celebration, which is spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), focuses on the importance of economic empowerment of women and at the same time promote unity, solidarity and stability among the different women groups.
This year's theme “CEDAW ng Bayan: Yaman ng Kababaihan” focuses on the need to generate resources to finance initiatives on gender and empowerment of women.
The activities are: March 10 – free pap smear by Mandaue City government and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.; March 11 – forum on Solo Parents Act for line agencies, local government units and non-government organizations by the DSWD; March 26 – forum on Magna Carta of Women by the Children's Legal Bureau and DSWD; March 31 – forum on VAWC, Solo Parent and Anti-Trafficking in Person by the Lapu-Lapu City government and motorcade and closing program by the DSWD.
