Former tourism exec Godfrey B. Lumauig; 74

MANILA, Philippines—Godfrey  B. Lumauig, former director of tourism and tourism attaché in New York for several years, died on Sept. 4 at the JFK hospital in New Jersey after a lingering illness. He was 74.

He is survived by his wife, Melahi; son, Joel, and wife, Belle; daughter, Cheryl, and youngest son, Brian.

Godfrey, a graduate of the University the Philippines, was an active member of the Alpha Phi Beta fraternity and the UP alumni chapter in New Jersey and New York.

He is the brother of former Ifugao Rep. and Gov. Gualberto Lumauig, and former Rep. and Deputy Minister of Trade Romulo Lumauig. His other brothers are Crispin and Tomas, now deceased, and sisters Angelina Manuel and Serenica. He is the youngest of the Lumauig siblings, who were all born in Kiangan, Ifugao.

His burial is scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.
