California Academy of Science’s Nightlife Features the Philippines

08:49 PM June 25, 2011

The Philippine Consulate General  has announced that on Thursday, June 30,  the California Academy of Science’s (CAS)  NightLife event  will feature the Philippines and celebrate the landmark research expedition it conducted for six weeks this spring.

The Expedition saw dozens of scientists from the California Academy of Science  hiking, sweating, and diving their way through the Philippines—a biodiversity hotspot—in order to explore and document its  animal and plant life.  It is the Academy’s largest to date, and also the most comprehensive scientific survey ever conducted in the Philippines.

In this evening, the visiting public will see specimens from the expedition, hear from participating scientists, and gain a new appreciation for what it takes to discover a new species of sea slug, moss, or spider, and why it matters.  Visitors will also enjoy Filipino music and cultural  performances.      There is also  DJ Music by  Chicken Scratch and Marky.

The event will be from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  It is open to the public 21 years and above.
