Zambales municipality claims ownership of Scarborough

MASINLOC, Zambales — The disputed Scarborough Shoal belongs to this municipality, its Mayor Desiree Edora said Wednesday, citing a resoltion passed by the local government in March 2011.

In a talk with newsmen, Edora said the resolution was subsequently approved by the Zambales Provincial Board.

The Shoal (Panatag Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc) is currently being disputed by the Philippines and China.
