PH not intimidated by Chinese gunboat

By

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines won’t be intimidated by China’s dispatch of a gunboat to Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal, a Malacañang official said on Friday.

Ricky Carandang, head of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office, said the dispute over the shoal involves not only the Philippines but the whole region.

“We will not be intimidated. The Philippines may be a small country but we have a principle that we are fighting for,” Carandang said in a text message to reporters. “This is not just for the Philippines but for the good of the whole region.”

Nonetheless, Carandang said, the Aquino government would continue to talk with Chinese authorities to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.

      • Mario_Garcia

What is in the interest of America to defend us? They already have Japan, Korea, & Vietnam who can ably protect their interest.  While the Philippines is viewed by them as ingrates.

Gunboat…For all i know China could send all his armada if she wants to….but our conviction and our stand on the issue of ownership in the scarborough shoal (panatag shoal) remains the same. Panatag Shoal is ours and that is under Philippine territory. So it is much better for the chinese to back off and return home to  mainland China…..why don’t you take someone your own size ! Stop intruding in our territorial waters…Stop poaching our marine life and other endangered species…! Let the world knows that China has the habit of getting territories already owned by other nations by means of bullying and harassment…and that is a bad image and publicity not only in their own mainland but also to the international community as whole ..!
