Palace expresses concern over attack on Filipino boxer

By

MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Wednesday said it was concerned over the Februaary11 attack on Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero by an angry mob in Argentina following his victory over an Argentinean opponent there.

Abigail Valte, a Palace spokesperson, said it will leave it to the Department of Foreign Affairs to act on the Senate’s resolution seeking the immediate recall of Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Rey Carandang in condemning the attack against Casimero and members of the Philippine boxing team there.

“We were concerned about what happened,” Valte told reporters, adding that the Palace will defer to the action that will be taken by the DFA on the Senate resolution.

Asked whether the Palace will endorse the recall order of Carandang, Valte said that the DFA will have discussions on the Senate resolution.

The Senate has sought the immediate recall of the Philippines’ ambassador to Argentina and an explanation from the Argentine ambassador in Manila to explain the post-fight attack on Casimero by an angry mob in Argentina.

Casimero on Sunday emerged the winner over Luis Alberto Lazarte after their IBF Light Flyweight bout in Buenos Aires was stopped on the 10th round.

After the fight, Argentinean fans hurled bottles and chairs into the ring while some jumping into the ring. Casimero was shielded from the attack by members of his team, some of whom were injured.

no wonder argentina’s economy has collapsed time and again…. people there are stupid

What our Philippine delegation experienced in Argentina only shows how primitive these boxing fans are. Argentina has been disgraced by its own people… a laughing stock in the global community.

Those people in Argentina  had been on a defeated streak already. No wonder they are always got that mob attitude. They got whipped by the British over their loved Malvinas Islands, and can never get it back.No more winners in World beauty tilt contests. Can’t win the Copa de Mundial anymore.Their economy is lame. There are trickles of outstanding, and winning tennis players now.The British(Khan) spanked their Maidana on  a controversial boxing fight. The Filipinos are much better in chess than their ‘ahedres” masters. The talkative, pound for pound  Sergio Martinez can’t land a mega fight for a mega money with either Mayweather or Pacquiao.Their powerhouse basketball Team can’t win the Olympic and World Championship no more .And finally, their idol Lazarte got creamed by a Filipino boxer traveling half the globe to cause more hurt. What an insult. And Casimero and Team got the brunt of those people’s frustrations. No wonder….No wonder….they behave like that…while the world watch.

We should be more concerned with the death of boxer Maquinto.

Yes Sir,they behave like that.Always frustrated!! I could still vividly recollect the capitulation of their forces at Port Stanley in 1982 to Maj.Gen Jeremy Moore to end the Falklands War.It hurts!!That’s the stigma of defeat. And they took their frustrations on other people. If i’m a Filipino boxer,i would not go there to fight one of their “peleadores”.If their boxer gets overwhelmed again, you might get”EXOCETIZED”.
